Pertamina EP preserves harmony with the environment through the consistent implementation of Health, Safety and the Enviroment (HSE) policy. The Company realizes the sensitive risks of its activities regarding HSE aspects and the social development of the surrounding community. These risks arise due to the utilization of flammable, explosive and toxic materials. Operation mismanagement could cause incidents, work-inflicted illness, environmental pollution and operational disturbances. These would certainly decrease Company's competitiveness and corporate reputation.

Therefore impeccable implementation of HSE aspects is a prerequisite for world class company. To attain HSE Operating Excellence in Pertamina EP, the Company has an instrument called HSE Management System (HSE MS). It is a system of integrated HSE management with operation activities, in order to run safely, reliably, efficient and environmentally focused. HSE MS in an integral part of the entire Company management system.

Implementation of HSE MS in all operation activities of Pertamina EP and its partners is merely one of five implemented strategy. Other strategy includes HSE education for workers, HSE culture development, integration of HSE technology with Pertamina EP activities and corporate reputation improvement in HSE aspects.
