Pertamina EP oil and gas production, once again, reach the highest record. It reached 136,504 barrel per day or 11,004 barrel higher than the target for 2009 which is 125,500 barrel per day.
Risk management plays a very important role in identifying and assessing whether Pertamina EP able to reach its vision or not. The management of operational and business risk is one of the program implemented in the second three years development planning (REPETITA).
Pertamina EP President Director Salis S Aprilian stated that during the opening ceremony of Risk Identification and Assessment workshop in Jakarta, Tuesday (16/6). Salis said that oil and gas industry is not only seen from the high technology and high cost, but this industry also considered as high risk. “It is not possible to eliminate risk. What we can do is to minimize risk. We need a parameter to identify and assess the potential risk in operational as well as financial,” he said.
Moreover Salis said that in culture change program held in Pertamina EP is we have to change the behavior to pay more attention to the risk in the industry and making it a habit in every aspect of our activities.
The implementation of risk management in Pertamina is initiated by the holding company PT Pertamina (Persero) through the BTP Enterprise Risk Management which is already in the secong stage.
The risk management department in the Upstream Directorate is preparing the implementation of Project Risk Management. At present, it is implemented by the subsidiaries, while Pertamina EP itself has published a risk management modul.
In order to speed up the implementation of risk management, a team of risk management has been developed in the head office, regions, and business units that consist of representatives from every department. Moreover, the routine activity has been done by actively engage in the process of the creation of agreement contracts.
The objective of this workshop is to synergize the risk management program in Pertamina EP with the BTP ERM in PT Pertamina (Persero). The second objective is also to socialize the risk management program in developing a risk awareness culture in the company. The third objective is to identify major risks and constructing the anticipation steps needed to manage the risk.
Pertamina EP President Director hope the implementation of risk identification and assessment can speed up Pertamina EP transformation program.
